Blind Sailing on Lough Derg, Ireland
Sailing for the Visually Impaired in conjunction with Blind Sailing of Ireland
Blind Sailing of Ireland and Shannon Sailing Ltd Dromineer Co Tipperary are pleased to offer sail training to both children and adults with a visual impairment.
For its success this activity relies on the enthusiasm and goodwill of our volunteers and participants.
They said Visually Impaired People cannot sail – but time and experience have proved otherwise, not only can they sail but they can excel at it!
Shannon Sailing is based in Dromineer on Lough Derg an ideal place to learn to sail.
We offer sail training in 6.25 metre Tirion’s. They are excellent boats to learn to sail in, easy to handle for the novice and the more experienced sailors will appreciate their manoeuvrability and speed.
The Tirion has a fixed keel that makes it an extremely stable and safe boat for visually impaired people learning to sail.
Tuition is offered by experienced skippers and crew trained to teach sailing to the visually impaired.
